HOUSTON -- University of Houston police are searching for a suspect who attacked a UH student in a women’s restroom Tuesday evening.

Police say around 8:10 p.m., a UH student was washing her hands in a second floor restroom in the Agnes Arnold Hall Building when she saw a suspect standing behind her.

The student started screaming and the male suspect came from behind her. He placed his hands over her mouth to prevent her from screaming. The student kicked the suspect and he ran out of the restroom.

"It's scary, I come here every morning at 5:45 a.m. and I walk the streets by myself," said Linda Rodriguez, who works on campus. "I think I'm going to buy some Mace or something to protect myself."

UH police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned, Middle Eastern male, in his early 20’s, 5’8," 145 pounds, with a trimmed beard and thin build. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans.

Students and staff say all the recent crime at UH has them very concerned.

"I'm very worried about the campus," said Rodriguez. "There's too much going on."

Anyone with information about this incident should call UH police at 713-743-3333.
