Police in the West Texas town of Crosbyton have issued a statewide Amber Alert for a missing two-year-old girl.

Leah Marie Aguirre disappeared on January 3 and was last seen in the company of a man identified only as "Miguel," according to KAMC-TV.

"Miguel," who claimed to be a case worker from Child Protective Serivces, took the child from her home in the town 35 miles east of Lubbock.

CPS spokesman Paul Zimmerman confirmed to KAMC that "Miguel" was not employed by the agency.

The man, driving a red Ford Focus, left with the girl.

KAMC reports that Crosby County deputies are investigating whether the child's mother had been trying to sell the child to someone in Mexico.

"Miguel" was said to have brown hair and brown eyes, but no additional information was provided.

Leah has brown hair and brown eyes. She's about 2'-5" tall and weighs 30 pounds. Police did not say what clothing she was wearing when abducted.

If you have any information about Leah or the kidnapper, call 911 or Crosbyton police at 806-368-1926.
