DALLAS, Texas -- The results from a Dallas ISD investigation released Monday substantiate a middle school student’s claim that a teacher mistreated, neglected, abused and demeaned students while on a trip to Europe last summer.
Julius Hill, a student at Greiner Middle School in the Dallas Independent School District, said math teacher Vicki Reed was particularly abusive toward him and took the children to a nude beach and an adult disco.
Reed, who is no longer with the district, took the children to Spain on a nine day trip between June 13, 2012 and June 21, 2012. The investigation found her behavior to be verbally and physically abusive. It calls her conduct “unprofessional,” saying she “mistreated, neglected and demeaned students and parents.”
The document says she left students unattended and “used questionable judgment” when she took them in a disco in Florence. The nude beach visit was accidental, the document says, but she “failed to take corrective action and immediately leave the beach.”
The investigation was headed by the Office of Professional Responsibility. Investigators considered testimony from children on the trip as well as other chaperones.
