HOUSTON, Texas — An armed man robbed a McDonald’s restaurant early Friday morning, forcing the store’s workers into a freezer, police in west Houston said.
According to the Houston Police Department, it was around 3:30 a.m. when the suspect went into the fast food eatery on Highway 6 at Piping Rock, just north of Westheimer.
Police said the man held a gun to a female employee's back and forced her to open the safe. He then made her and other workers go into the kitchen’s freezer.
A witness said the suspect sped away in a brown Chevrolet Suburban.
Police believe the man got away with about $1,000 in cash while an employee called 911 from the freezer.
A detailed suspect description was not immediately available, but police said the man had dark skin, stood about 6-5, and weighed about 245 lbs.
