HOUSTON, Texas -- A Texas woman is being dubbed "gangster granny" by police after she defended herself from a home intruder. The 73-year-old Houston woman was hailed for scaring off a suspected burglar by stabbing him with a barbecue fork.

Houston police spokesman Kese Smith said Monday that nobody has been arrested.

Margaret Jackson says she stopped by her daughter's house Friday afternoon when she saw a young man trying to break in through the back door.

Jackson, who was alone in the home, says she looked around the kitchen for some utensils to use as weapons. She grabbed a barbecue fork and scissors.

Jackson says she flung open the door and struggled with the youth. Jackson says she stabbed the suspect in the neck with the fork as he ran away.

"He was pushing on me," said Jackson. "He turned around and when he turned around, that's when he messed up. I got him right in the neck!"

She was uninjured, but Jackson said she will call police if she ever finds herself in this kind of a situation again.
