AUSTIN -- Police are looking for a man called the "Trick or Treat Bandit" who they say robbed an Austin bank Thursday morning.

It happened at the IBC Bank at 11400 Burnet Road near Braker Lane in North Austin.

APD says they believe the man is a serial robber who has been hitting up banks since 2009. They believe Thursday's robbery could be his seventh.

He is described as a Hispanic man with dark hair and sunglasses. They say he was wearing a rag over his face and a Nike shirt that said "Just Do It." Police believe he is in his late 20s to early 30s with a husky build and dark hair. He is believed to be 5'6" to 5'8" in height. Police say he usually wears a sweater or jacket and gloves. He has been labeled the "Trick or Treat Bandit" because he usually wears a ski mask or Halloween mask.

He has been seen driving a 1990s to 2000s green or gray Toyota Camry with gold trim and lettering and a sun roof.

In most cases he enters the bank, displays a handgun and leaves with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries have been reported.

"We want to stop him before he hurts someone," said Austin Police Detective Billy Parks. "He started out just using, pointing his finger at people, and now he's pointing a weapon. Someone out there knows this person. This is someone's uncle. This is someone's brother. This is someone's friend.

If you have information on his whereabouts you are asked to call (512) 472-TIPS or (512) 974-5092.

Police believe he is also responsible for the following bank robberies:

  • Oct. 6, 2009: Bank of America at 2511 West Parmer Lane
  • April 26, 2010: Bank of America at 2511 West Parmer Lane
