Houston hair-care mogul Farouk Shami challenged Bill White in the democratic race, but did not come up with much of the vote.
Shami's supporters are gathered Tuesday night at the Westin-Galleria Hotel in Houston, where it was a long night watching the returns. Shami says they fought a hard fight.
Shami thanked his supporters. He spent $6 million of his own money to run this campaign.
