Chief Acevedo to speak to Congress about gun violence prevention

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo is in Washington, D.C. Friday, getting ready to meet with members of Congress.

Chief Acevedo says he is there to weigh in on the gun control debate. The U.S. House of Representatives is holding a hearing on gun violence prevention at 1 p.m.

Chief Acevedo will speak about universal background checks for firearm purchases.
