Voters in the Eanes Independent School District are being told to vote against $149 million in school bonds.

A news conference was held in South Austin Thursday morning to get that message out by its organizer, Citizens for Academic Excellence in Eanes (CAEE).

The group argues the problem is accountability from the district.

It claims $4.5 million from a bond election in 2006 remains unaccounted for.

Leaders say taxpayers should know how money is spent before tax payers authorize more.

"School officials have failed to provide answers, and therefore we can only conclude that no authorization by the board of trustees occurred for that spending," said Al Cowan, a CAEE organizer.

Eanes ISD voters have three different proposition bonds to vote on come Nov. 2. They include building a new swim center and improvements to its elementary schools.
