City council members have given the green light to turning Leander into an extreme sports destination. Thursday night, the council approved the $66 million development of the 200-acre Texas X-park. The park, billed as the largest in the country, will offer everything from a professional skate park to a concert venue, camping, various motor parks, a paintball arena and much more. Developers hope it will attract ESPN events, like the X-games and also serve as a home base for area bike riders, skateboarders and other X-games athletes. "This is Texas, and we're in Central Texas, so we should be the biggest. And that's what we're proposing," said Matt Tolbert, Texas X Park. Crews will break ground on the project this summer.
