Quints' family talks about delivery

A Cedar Park woman is recovering, one day after giving birth to recording-breaking quintuplets in Phoenix. Doctors say all five babies are breathing on their own and all are healthy. Wednesday, the babies' father talked about the delivery, and what's next for the family.
In a matter of minutes, the Wilkinson family went from four to nine. The couple's quintuplets were born one after another -- Kassidy, Kaydence, Rustin, Kyndall, and Ryder.
“She [Kaydence] was the one that had her eyes opened and was looking around and seemed to have a whole lot of energy and also seemed to go to the beat of her own drum so we named her Kaydence because that kind of fit. One of the boys had a little red tint in his hair so we named him Rustin,” said Jayson Wilkinson.
The three girls and two boys ranged from a little more than three pounds to just more than five pounds. Collectively, they weighed a record-breaking 21 pounds, 7.2 ounces.
“Initially, I was just elated,” said Wilkinson. He says all five are healthy, and all of them are breathing on their own.
“When they gave me one to hold, I really wasn't expecting that and I started crying because I just -- it was all real and they were all here finally and we had done it,” said Wilkinson.
The Wilkinson family will return to their Cedar Park home in the coming weeks.
“Right now, we're just really taking it one day at a time, trying to figure out -- what happens,” Wilkinson said.
Back home, friends, family, and even strangers are awaiting their return.
“I thought it was the baby lottery. She won the baby lottery this time,” said Heather Kearns, a mother of triplets, who are now nine. She and her husband, Jermoe, have this advice to offer.
“My advice is that hang in there, everything gets really good. It starts out kind of rough, but in the end, it's all worth it,” said Jerome Kearns.
Rachelle Wilkinson, the quintuplets' mother, is expected to be released on Saturday. The babies will likely remain in the hospital for a couple of weeks.
