Futures barely budge in holiday-shortened week

NEW YORK (AP) — Stock futures are slightly higher in light trading, with only a smattering of earnings and economic indicators due in a holiday-shortened week.

Dow Jones industrial futures are up 7 points to 16,069. S&P futures have gained 1.2 points to 1,803.60. Nasdaq futures are up 3.25 points to 3,432.25.

An abbreviated and delayed housing report is due Tuesday from the Commerce Department.

Data on housing permit requests for September and October, an indicator of future construction, is due at 8:30 a.m. Eastern time The usual numbers covering the pace of construction already underway is delayed because of the partial government shutdown.

However, the Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller home price index will be released just before the opening bell.

Shares of Tiffany & Co. are up almost 7 percent on strong quarterly earnings.
