NEW YORK (AP) — Three men are charged with setting a New York City convent on fire and stealing a golden chalice from the building.

Nineteen-year-old Vincent Calder is charged with arson, burglary and other charges. Two other 19-year-olds, Christopher Sasso and Diego Tuso, face burglary, criminal trespass and other charges. All three have pleaded not guilty. Their lawyers did not return calls for comment.

The Staten Island district attorney's office said Friday there wasn't enough evidence to charge the men under hate crimes statute.

A criminal complaint says a nun fractured three vertebrae when she jumped from a second-floor window to escape the fire early Saturday on Staten Island.

The convent is on the grounds of St. Joseph Hill Academy, a 14-acre Catholic school for kindergarten through 12th grade.
