NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police say a 35-year-old woman fell to her death when the railing on her 17th floor balcony apparently gave way.
Police say Jennifer Rosoff was with a friend outside her corner apartment in midtown Manhattan shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday when she either leaned against or sat on the railing.
Police believe it gave way and she fell, landing on construction scaffolding at ground level.
The medical examiner will determine a cause of death.
The city's buildings department was at the scene Wednesday examining the railing. A photo of the balcony shows part of it bent down in a V-shape.
