CINCINNATI (AP) — An Ohio coroner says authorities are investigating multiple possibilities for why a 12-year-old boy fatally shot his 9-year-old half brother and then turned the gun on himself.
Authorities say each boy had a single gunshot wound to the head. Jackson County Coroner Dr. Gregory Hawker says investigators don't know whether the shootings in Jackson in southern Ohio were a murder-suicide, a suicide pact or an accidental shooting followed by suicide.
He tells The Associated Press there was no sign of a struggle, and that the younger boy was sitting in a chair when he was shot. He says investigators have taken the older boy's computer.
Jackson police Chief Carl Eisnaugle (EYES'-naw-guhl) says there might never be an explanation for happened Wednesday in the bedroom at the home of the boys' grandparents.
