WEST, Texas -- Nervous and scared. That's how many West students described their first day back in school, just four days after a deadly explosion at a West fertilizer plant.

Nearly 800 middle school and high school students were bused about 10 miles from West to Lacy Lakeview, a small town just north of Waco.

The West Trojans don't normally come into Connally Cadet territory unless they are competing. The schools are normally rivals.

But on Monday the students were welcomed with open arms by their neighbors.

School resumed at West Elementary School since the building wasn't damaged by the explosion.

TAKS and STARR testing is supposed to be this week for West students, but they have been given waivers from the state.
