A fire inspection at a coffee shop that hosted a drag show in Round Rock has caused rumors to fly.

City leaders ordered a fire inspection of Saradora's coffee shop on Main Street three days after hosting the city's first-ever drag show. The event attracted about 200 people, but the fire code only allows 84 people in the coffee shop at one time.

Mayor Nyle Maxwell tells KVUE News he was only responding to complaints about capacity.

"That doesn't change the fact. The fact is there was a drag entertainment, drag queen entertainment -- people were concerned. They called in raising the concern of capacity," he said.

Some have claimed the inspection was a crackdown on decency in conservative Williamson County.

"No it wasn't the crowd that triggered it. It wasn't that we had entertainment that triggered it. It was that there are a very few conservative people around that decided to voice their opinion that they decided it was a little bit over the edge," said Sarah Roberts, Saradora's Coffeehouse & Cafe.

The mayor says he'd have no objection if Saradora's coffee shop wanted to host another drag show, but both he, and the owner, say it's important to adhere to fire code restrictions.
