Woman seriously injured in head-on collision in New Braunfels

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS - One woman has serious injuries after colliding head-on with an 18-wheeler in New Braunfels, causing traffic congestion along Interstate 35.

Shortly after 3 a.m., police in New Braunfels received several calls about a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-35. As officers responded, they discovered that the vehicle had crashed head-on into an 18-wheeler in the 4200 block of I-35 southbound near Solms Road.

When officers approached the vehicle that was pushed up against a concrete median, they found a semi-conscious woman inside with extensive injuries. The 26-year-old woman was taken to a hospital. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the accident and spoke with authorities about what happened before the collision.

The southbound lanes surrounding the crash remain closed until the investigation is completed.
