With fire damaged restaurant, Franklin BBQ goes mobile for Harvey relief

AUSTIN - Franklin Barbecue may have closed after a devastating fire, but the popular restaurant is setting up shop at Mohawk for two Sundays in September to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Franklin made the announcement on social media Wednesday, weeks after a fire broke out in the pit room of the restaurant. No injuries were reported in the fire, but Austin Fire estimated that it caused about $350,000 worth of damage. The restaurant is salvageable, though, the Austin Fire Department said.

Those looking to satisfy their barbecue craving should head out to the Mohawk on Sept. 17 and Sept. 24. Tickets cost $30 at the door starting at 11 a.m. until Franklin runs out of barbecue. It's first come, first served and all ages are welcome. Go here for details.
