Driver flees crash before colliding head-on with vehicle, killing 2

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TEXAS - After a driver struck two vehicles and fled Thursday evening, officials said a short time later, the driver collided with a different vehicle head-on, killing two people inside.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2006 Ford F-150 driven by John Gonzales, 36, pulled out of a convenience store located at the corner of CR 200 and State Highway 29 and struck two vehicles at around 7:30 p.m. DPS said the driver of the Ford then fled the scene on the wrong side of the road going west along SH 29. The driver traveled .25 miles before he struck a 2016 Dodge Ram and a 2004 Dodge Ram. The driver and passenger of the 2004 Dodge Ram -- identified as 29-year-old Jorge Montoya-Balderas and 23-year-old Marcelo Montoya-Balderas -- died on the scene.

Gonzales was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
