Police: Shooting threat written on Round Rock High School bathroom wall not credible

WILLIAMSON COUNTY , TEXAS - Round Rock police and the Round Rock Independent School District are trying to determine who is responsible for writing a school shooting threat on the girl's restroom wall at Round Rock High School Nov. 14.

According to officials with Round Rock ISD, the message said the shooting was supposed to take place Nov. 28. However, after an investigation by the district and police, the threat was deemed not credible.

Extra police will be placed on campus as a precaution, according to Round Rock ISD.

The investigation is ongoing.

Round Rock High School Principal Matt Groff sent the following letter home to students and parents:

Dear Round Rock High School Community:

Earlier this month, we discovered graffiti written on the wall of a girls’ restroom which contained a threat directed at Round Rock High School to be carried out on today’s date, November 28.

Round Rock Police partnered with administrators from Round Rock High School as well as Round Rock ISD to investigate and determined the threat was not credible. In an abundance of caution, however, we have increased police presence on campus today.

We want to fully inform our community and assure you all that every precaution is in place to protect our students and staff and we are continuing to investigate to determine who wrote the message.

Please know that threats made toward campus safety are taken very seriously. We will not tolerate any incident that threatens the security of our students and interrupts the educational process. We carefully analyze every potential security threat, in collaboration with law enforcement and district officials, and determine when and how to notify parents and students with the ultimate goal being campus safety.

The safety and security of our students and staff are our top priorities. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call me at 512-464-6000. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Matt Groff

Principal
