What Austin said about #Boomtown, KVUE's Live Doc

KVUE's Ashley Goudeau takes a walking tour of Austin in the midst of its booming growth with a Visit Austin guide, who's also a native Austinite.

AUSTIN - Austin, Texas has become one of the fastest growing cities in America with a population doubling about every 20 years.

On Nov. 16, KVUE News aired the Boomtown: KVUE Live Doc which took a deeper look at the pros and cons of the thriving city. Also, discussing aspects of old and new Austin from the viewpoints of veteran Austinites, new city dwellers and what the city is doing about it. 

We wanted to know what you, the viewer, thought about the topic. Using the hashtag, #Boomtown, tweets were flying before and during the special. Here's what some of you said:

@Mr_JustYn, who moved to Austin more than 12 years ago said he's "kind of a big deal."

 

 

But John Ryan said he might be part of the city's problem.

 

 

@genvc said things in Austin really started to change two decades ago.

 

 

Brandon B said Austin is the new Los Angeles.

 

 

@sirced said Austin's problems are about missed opportunities.

Although Austinites may not agree on a solution to their city's growth, they can definitely agree it's a problem.
