WATCH: Thieves steal copper wire from garage

Copper theft security

A homeowner in southeast Austin is sharing security video that recorded two burglars stealing copper wire from her garage.

The homeowner said the suspects stole about $500 worth of copper wire from her garage on the morning of Wednesday, April 12, on Patsy Pkwy, near Bluff Springs Road. She said the wire was in her garage because her husband is an electrician.

The homeowner said their home has been robbed twice in the past, which is why they installed the security cameras.

The suspects drove away in a black Mustang with two different rims. The right tail light of the vehicle is out and the paint on the roof and hood is faded.

Police are investigating.

Anyone with information on the identity of the thieves should submit their tips to the Austin Police Department here or with their mobile app on iPhone and Android. You can also call the TIPS Hotline at 512-472-TIPS.
