VP Joe Biden visiting Austin Friday

Biden traveling to Austin, expect delays

AUSTIN - Vice President Joe Biden will visit Austin Friday evening for a fundraiser, according to officials with Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

ABIA officials said that Biden will fly into Austin around 6:30 p.m. and is expected to depart around 9 p.m.

There will be a short landing field freeze for about 10 minutes before he lands and 10 minutes after he leaves. The freeze should have little impact on other flights, possibly a 10-minute delay, ABIA officials said.

But, drivers could face some headaches as the vice-president makes his way through Austin. While the vice-president's route hasn't been released, Austin Police said drivers on Ben White Blvd and also on Capital of Texas Highway should expect delays between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. and then later between 9 and 11 p.m.
