Victim fighting for life after fire in South Austin

Man burned in house fire

AUSTIN, TEXAS - A man in his 60’s was rushed to the hospital after getting burned in a fire in south Austin Monday afternoon, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.

The fire happened at a home in the area of the 9700 block of Bilbrook Place block of Slaughter Creek Drive which is just east of the intersection of Manchaca Road and West Slaughter Lane.

The initial call came in between 3:15 and 3:30 p.m. Monday from a neighbor. The neighbor said she and other neighbors managed to pull the man out of the house after they saw the flames.

The victim, who was the only person home at the time of the fire, was taken to the San Antonio Burn Unit for treatment with critical, life-threatening injuries.
