AUSTIN - At an open house Tuesday afternoon, the Texas Department of Transportation is inviting the public to an open house to look at a project that is meant to "improve safety and mobility" for drivers who travel along Interstate 35 between U.S. 183 and Riverside Drive.
TxDOT's "Central 7-Mile Comprehensive Project" would add an express lane in each direction of I-35 and "address all remaining safety and mobility improvements proposed under the Mobility35 Program that are not included in a series of stand-alone projects between U.S. 183 and Riverside Drive."
The environmental study and schematic design are anticipated to be complete in the spring of 2018.
The Central7 project will cost approximately $550 million to $850 million. Go here for more details about the project and open house.
The open house is scheduled to take place between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Memorial United Methodist Church on Berkman Drive.
