Triathlon causes closures in Downtown Austin Labor Day

AUSTIN - Until early afternoon, drivers should expect lane closures in Downtown Austin due to a triathlon that is taking place Labor Day.

An annual event, TriRock Triathlon Series starts with a swim beginning at the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue in Lady Bird Lake followed by a closed bike course over the Congress Avenue Bridge. The triathlon will then finish with a run along the Auditorium Shores running path.

Until 1 p.m., Cesar Chavez Street will be closed in both directions from Congress Avenue to West 6th Street. Between 11th Street and Cesar Chavez Street, Congress Avenue will also be closed.
