AUSTIN -- Before they sit down to that big turkey dinner, more than 20,000 people will spend the morning running in Austin, and its all for a good cause.
The Thundercloud Subs Turkey Trot includes a five-mile family fun run, a one-mile walk and the Stepping Stone School Kids K at the Long Center.
Some special guests this year include "Buddy" from 'Elf: The Musical' (playing at the Long Center), and some life-size turkeys to greet guests.
This year's teams include Gobtrotters, Free The Turkeys and the Butterball Express to name just a few.
The trot benefits Caritas of Austin. The charity's mission is to help people move out of poverty toward self-sufficiency.
In the past 24 years, Thundercloud Subs has raised nearly $2.2 million for the organization.
