HOUSTON - Regina Core-Mellon scrolled through a cell phone of horrors as she recounted the online torment and harassment she blamed on an ex-boyfriend.
“I have never experienced anything like this before,” Mellon said. “It’s embarrassing. It’s stressful, because every day you’re, like, waiting for someone to contact you.”
Mellon claimed she ended her relationship after catching the man she was dating in several lies. She said she thought they would just go their separate ways, until he sent her a threatening text.
“He texted, and it’s a picture of me knocked out sleep, but I’m half nude,” Mellon said. “And he says, ‘If you continue, I’m going to expose you. I’m going to blast you.’”
Days later, she said the same picture turned up on a Facebook profile page.
“I wouldn’t do that to anybody. Never have, and I never would,” she said.
KHOU 11 News contacted two other women making similar allegations and then reached Mellon’s former boyfriend. He claimed none of it is true and said he was being harassed by ex-lovers upset that they could no longer have him.
Detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are investigating Mellon’s claims. In the meantime, Mellon said she feels violated and ashamed.
“Kids have a hard enough time as it is. They shouldn’t have to be worrying about this or stressed about this or crying about this,” Mellon said. “They’ve cried, too. It’s wrong.”
