Texas ranked 11th in latest AP poll

AUSTIN - Fresh off a 41-7 thumping of the University of Texas-El Paso, the Texas Longhorns remained just out of the top 10 of the AP Top 25 and rose to 16th in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The new AP poll ranked Texas 11th while keeping Alabama at the top of the poll followed by Florida State, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Houston, Stanford, Washington, Wisconsin, and Louisville in the top 10.

The Longhorns jumped four spots to be ranked 16th thanks to a 2-0 start powered by a dynamic passing game and a swarming defense. The schedule gets a little tougher next Saturday when the 16th ranked Longhorns play on the road against the California Golden Bears.

The highest rank team from the Lone Star State is the Houston Cougars who checked in at number seven in the latest rankings.
