Gas prices going down moving into fall

AUSTIN - The statewide gas price average is slowly decreasing and 16 cents less per gallon than it was last year, according to AAA Texas.

Data from AAA Texas shows that the average gas price in Texas is $2.00 per gallon, which is four cents lower than last week. The average price in the Austin area is $1.99 per gallon, which is three cents lower than last week. Amarillo and El Paso have the highest prices in the state with $2.02 per gallon and Corpus Christi has the lowest with $1.94 per gallon.

On September 8, 2015, Austin area gas prices averaged at $2.24 per gallon.
