WEATHERFORD, Texas -- Authorities in North Texas have arrested a 25-year-old woman for the deaths a month ago of her two children found in a hot car outside their home.
Parker County deputies say Cynthia Marie Randolph initially said her 2-year-old daughter and 16-month-old son locked themselves inside, but acknowledged to investigators on Friday she left them inside on May 26 to teach her daughter a lesson after she found the kids playing in the car. Temperatures reached the mid-90s that day.
Randolph is charged with two first-degree felony counts of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
She called police, saying she found the children unresponsive. She said Friday she left the children in the car, smoked marijuana and went to sleep.
No bond has been set yet in her case.
