Gunshots at E. Austin gas station lead to SWAT situation

AUSTIN - Reports of gunshots at an East Austin gas station led to the response of the Austin Police Department's SWAT team Monday night.

According to APD, at 5:32 p.m., police were called out to 3112 East Cesar Chavez Street where a Valero gas station sits. The woman who called 911 said that two people fired multiple gunshots at her and then fled the scene in a vehicle. Police said no one was injured in that incident.

Officers then were able to find that vehicle in the 2600 block of East 4th Street. Officers were led to believe that there were people related to the shooting barricaded inside a nearby residence, so APD's SWAT team was called out.

No one ended up being inside that home. Police did speak to one person of interest but it's unclear if that person was taken into custody. Investigators are still gathering information.
