Student sexually assaulted at Anderson High School

New information in high school sex assault

AUSTIN - A student was sexually assaulted at Anderson High School Thursday, according to a letter sent home to parents from the school's principal.

Principal Sammi Harrison said in the letter that everyone involved in the assault had been identified and Austin ISD police determined that the campus was safe.

Austin ISD police were notified of the assault on campus Thursday and immediately launched an investigation, according to the letter.

On Friday, Harrison sent a second letter stating that the alleged perpetrator was not an intruder or a staff member and the assault occurred on campus during the school day.

The investigation is ongoing.

Harrison reminded parents and students who witness anything suspicious on campus to contact the AISD Police Department at 512-414-1703.
