Former convention center director indicted
10:38 PM CST on Friday, December 21, 2007
The former director of the Austin Convention Center has been indicted by a Travis County grand jury. Don Robert Hodge was indicted on 16 counts of tampering with a governmental record.
According to a press release from Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle's office, the indictment alleges that Hodge lied in Quality of Service surveys submitted to the Austin Convention Center Department from Oct. 2005 to Feb. 2007. The surveys are used by the city manager to determine performance pay for convention center employees.
The case stemmed from a criminal investigation into allegations of misusing a fund related to concessions and catering. The grand jury declined to indict Hodge on charges relating to the fund.
As for tampering with governmental records, that's a state felony, punishable by up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
