A pedestrian was killed after she was hit by a van in Central East Austin, Austin police said.

It happened just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on Cameron Road near Capital Plaza.

Police say a silver van struck a 50-year-old woman and a child crossing the street.

The woman was transported to Brackenridge Hospital where she died.

The child was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center with minor injuries.
