COVINGTON, Tenn. -- A Tipton County jury has returned a guilty verdict for an Austin man in the slaying of a Tennessee state trooper.

Orlando Garcia, 20, was convicted of facilitation of first-degree murder Thursday in the shooting death of Trooper Calvin Jenks, 24.

Garcia's trial began Monday and he told his jury Jenks was shot by an accomplice, Chevo Gauna, 18, who is scheduled for trial in April.

Jenks was killed when he stopped a car for speeding on Jan. 6 on State Highway 14 in Tipton County north of Memphis.

Garcia said he and Gauna, both from Austin were in Tennessee to sell marijuana when Jenks was killed.
