06:29 PM CST on Thursday, December 13, 2007
An employee at a middle school in North Austin is under investigation. He's accused of having an improper online relationship with a female student at Lamar Middle School.
So far no charges have been filed against Ronald Wooten, 31, but Austin ISD has confirmed he was put on paid administrative leave on Monday, pending the district's police investigation. According to the search warrant, Wooten works as an in-school suspension monitor at Lamar Middle School.
On Wednesday, Austin ISD police issued a search warrant and seized electronic devices, such as computers from the home of a relative of Wooten.
According to the search warrant, Wooten “knowingly and intentionally” communicated with a 14-year-old female student at Lamar Middle School via MySpace.
The search warrant goes on to say, "inappropriate messages, which include sexual content, have been exchanged between the two parties," and that “the communications were found to be sexual in nature and offensive to the 14-year-old victim."
According to the search warrant, the messages were exchanged between December 6th and December 10th. The girl's parents discovered the messages and reported it to police.
So far, no charges have been filed against Wooten.
