Huckabee files for Texas primary
03:31 PM CST on Thursday, December 13, 2007
AUSTIN -- Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee has filed his candidacy papers for Texas' GOP primary.
The former Arkansas governor on Thursday joined a growing field of presidential candidates who have entered the state's primary. The March 4 election comes after a number of other states' primaries, so party nominations may already be sewn up by then.
Huckabee, a Baptist preacher and conservative favorite, has surged in recent opinion polls nationally and is leading in Iowa, where caucuses will be held Jan. 3.
