Man charged with attacking APD officer

A 19-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant after he allegedly attacked an Austin police officer with a screw driver.

Pedro Antonio Navidad, also known as Pedro Gamez, was arrested Friday night after a parking lot scuffle with an officer.
It happened in the 6700 block of Middle Fiskville Road near Highland Mall in North Central Austin.
The arrest affidavit said the officer who was patrolling the area spotted Navidad attempting to break into parked cars.
When the officer approached him, Navidad reportedly attacked the officer with a screwdriver.
The officer ended up with a puncture wound on his forearm and cuts to his hand and upper-body.
Navidad is in jail with bail set at $150,000.
