The body of a woman found along Interstate 35 in San Marcos was positively identified Monday as that of Patricia Smith, Travis County sheriff's officials said.

The medical examiner's office was still trying to determine cause of death. Smith's body was found Friday evening in the 3000 block of North I-35. The search began last week after detectives received information that Smith may have traveled through the area.

Smith disappeared in November after her son was shot at their home in Southeast Travis County. Billy Ferguson later died. Detectives believe Smith left with the suspect Albert Jesse Segura, 36. He was taken into custody December 6 in Del Rio and later transferred to the Travis County Jail. He is charged with murder.

Bond was set at $800,000.
