Coach pleads guilty to molesting girls on bus trip
01:27 PM CST on Thursday, December 7, 2006
FORT WORTH -- A 42-year-old Central Texas wrestling coach has pleaded guilty to molesting two girls on a bus trip back from a national championship meet last year.
Timothy Daniel Morriss of Weir molested the 16-year-old wrestlers as the team traveled through Missouri en route back to Texas after winning the junior national championship in Fargo, North Dakota.
He was one of the coaches of Texas USA Wrestling in Fort Worth, which organized the girls team in 2005.
Morriss entered his plea yesterday in federal court in Kansas City, Missouri, under a deal that recommends a sentence of ten years in prison without parole. But the charges carry a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.
A federal judge will most likely sentence Morriss next year.
Morriss was also the owner of Rock Wrestling Club in Leander. Weir and Leander are in Williamson County, north of Austin.
