12:29 PM CST on Thursday, December 6, 2007
A Bowie High School teacher resigned after an arrest during an out-of-state trip with several Bowie students.
Tara Carter took a small group of cheerleading students on a trip to Baton Rouge, LA over the Thanksgiving holiday.
During the trip, the 24-year-old teacher was pulled over and arrested on DWI charges.
The school district says the trip was private and not school-sanctioned.
District officials also say no students were in the vehicle with Carter when she was arrested.
Carter taught at Bowie for two years as a history teacher and cheerleader sponsor.
