University of Texas to play Arizona State in Holiday Bowl

AUSTIN – Officials with the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl made it official Sunday that Texas will face Arizona State on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

No. 12 Arizona State (10-2) and No. 17 Texas (9-3) have never met.

It's Arizona State's third appearance and Texas' fourth appearance in the Holiday Bowl. ASU is 0-2 in the Holiday Bowl, having lost to Arkansas, 18-17, in 1985 and to Kansas State, 34-27, in 2002.

Texas is 1-2 in the game with losses to Oregon (35-30 in 2000) and Washington State (28-20 in 2003) and a victory against Washington (47-43 in 2001).

Both teams are expected to arrive in San Diego on Dec. 22.
