Georgetown ushers in holidays with lighting
06:00 PM CST on Friday, November 23, 2007
It's already looking like Christmas. The City of Georgetown lit up its town square Friday evening.
There are thousands of lights across the Georgetown square -- there are wreaths, garland and one 14-foot Christmas tree.
The switches were flipped right at 6 p.m. and plenty of people gathered around the downtown square for a peek at the spirited decor.
This year the City of Georgetown and Williamson County added even more lights than usual. Many pecan trees were wrapped in White lights all across the courthouse lawn.
And of course the carolers were out. Singers with the Austin Carolers kicked off the annual lighting of the square.
This is the first year for the lighting since the Georgetown courthouse was restored.
Local shops planned to stay open a little later Friday night.
