A local favorite is ready to regain its rightful place on the Austin stage.
The Victory Grill on east 11th Street has just been recognized by the city as a landmark.
Now, the historic restaurant and music venue will soon begin hundreds of thousands of dollars in a major renovation.
Manager Eva Lindsey says she intends open a cafe with daily service in January, and then have several weekly live music acts in the spring.
Once renovation work is complete, the local landmark plans to be open seven days a week.
“From that point on, I intend to be open everyday with food and music, food and music,” Lindsey said. “We will entertain you and feed you.”
Work on the Victory Grill will begin late next month.
The Victory Grill was once a famed stop on the 'Chitlin Circuit' back in the 1940s and 50s.
