New nightclub set to open its doors
10:55 PM CST on Wednesday, November 14, 2007
A new type of club is on the verge of opening up in downtown Austin, a nightclub the owner claims will be like no other in the Capitol City.
Pangaea is the newest high-end establishment which is opening up at 4th and Colorado in what used to be the original Alamo Drafthouse.
"Nobody has beaten me to the punch in this town, I can promise you, whether this club succeeds or fails I can promise you that there is no one in this town doing table service the way we do it" says Michael Ault, the owner of Pangaea.
Ault spent millions revamping the interior of the building.
Pangaea is what many consider a "bottle club." That means the waiter or waitress brings the entire bottle to your table.
Ault says Pangaea is much more than that.
"We focus on the customer and turning the customer into a star so that everybody feels like a celebrity" says Ault.
Ault owns similar high-end clubs all over the world including New York, Madrid and Florida.
Pangaea opens to the public Friday night.
