State considers moving state offices to Eastern Travis County
03:34 PM CDT on Wednesday, October 29, 2008
Thousands of state employees may be working in Eastern Travis County instead of downtown Austin.
The state is considering long-range development plans in Eastern Travis County.
State officials are scouting along SH-130 for a huge office complex for up to 9,000 employees.
The move would allow the state to move employees to one complex, rather than be housed in several buildings across the city.
State officials hope to have a more concrete plan in place before the start of the next legislative session in January.
