If you are registered to vote, some of your personal information is available to anyone who logs onto the Internet.

By accessing the Travis County elections Web site, you can find a voter’s birth date, voting precinct and home address.

“The nature of public records is that they are available for everyone to research,” said Tina Morton with the Travis County voter registration office.

Morton says Texas law requires counties to make voter registration information available to anyone.

Even high profile people, like elected officials, are not exempt, including Dana DeBeauvoir, the Travis County clerk. DeBeauvoir has no problem with that.

“I think that because I am elected, you ought to be able to find me night and day, so the accessibility is important,” she said.

Public record or not, many voters do not want to share that information online.

To remove your election information from the Travis County Website, contact the Travis County Elections Division.
