DPS troopers graduate in Austin
11:33 AM CDT on Friday, September 28, 2007
Sixty-eight troopers graduated Friday from the Texas Department of Public Safety Training Academy in Austin.
The new graduates began their training in March and learned about more than 100 subjects, including counter-terrorism, arrest procedures, first aid and Spanish. They also received training in areas that include driving, cultural diversity and physical fitness.
"These graduates join a proud law enforcement tradition, and we expect them to uphold that reputation for fair and honest law enforcement," said DPS Director Col. Thomas A. Davis, Jr.
The new troopers will report to stations across the state in about three weeks, where they will spend six months training with a senior trooper.
